Bachelor’s programme: Environmental Sciences and Protection

There is no doubt that human activity has an impact on the environment. But do you know how this impact can be reduced, controlled, or even neutralized? Would you like to know how to do this effectively? In this bachelor’s degree program, you will learn to observe, analyze, and assess both natural and human-induced environmental and climate changes. The studies will provide not only a solid theoretical foundation, but also practical competencies that enable you to make scientifically sound decisions in the field of environmental protection – from the protection of organisms and ecosystems to the rational use of natural resources. Here you will immerse yourself in ecology, biology, geology, meteorology, and climatology. You will gain knowledge about biotic and abiotic components of ecosystems and their interactions, learn to apply engineering solutions and GIS technologies to analyze and model environmental processes, and develop the ability to view the environment from an economic, social and technological perspective. This program will prepare you for real-world work with environmental challenges. By working in industry, energy, construction companies, governmental institutions, and various organizations you will be able to build up your professional career and contribute to the protection of the environment and preservation of the environmental quality   for current and future generations.

Master’s programmes:

Environmental challenges can no longer wait for tomorrow’s solutions – they demand leadership today. Our society needs responsible, system-thinking environmental professionals who understand sustainability and green transformation in practice. If you want to shape decisions rather than simply observe them, a master’s degree in Environmental Management is your chance to act. This program prepares you to become a highly qualified environmental specialist capable of managing complex processes – from data analysis to strategic decision-making. You will deepen your understanding of sustainable development, ecotoxicology, environmental and landscape management, and learn to apply Lithuanian and EU environmental legislation not only in theory, but in real-world situations. During your studies, you will gain practical skills in environmental impact assessment, pollution modelling, GIS technologies and environmental forecasting. These tools will enable you not just to identify environmental problems, but to anticipate their consequences for people, ecosystems and society. After completing your studies, you will be able to work where the most important environmental issues are addressed: in state and international institutions, EU agencies, private consulting companies or non-governmental organizations. And if your goal is even greater, you can continue your studies in the doctoral program in ecology and environmental studies or shape environmental directions at the scientific and political level. These studies are for those who do not merely speak about the future of our planet – but actively create it.

  • Industrial Ecology

Sustainability in the industrial sector is no longer a distant vision of the future – it is a reality shaped by EU environmental policy, rapid technological progress and growing societal expectations. By choosing the master’s degree program in Industrial Ecology, you can become an active contributor to these changes. During your studies, you will gain the skills needed to analyze natural and industrial systems, address environmental challenges and improve environmental efficiency across different industries, in line with global sustainability goals and the EU Green Deal. The program covers sustainable development principles in industrial ecology, sustainable and hybrid energy systems, cleaner production approaches, as well as methods for controlling and reducing physical and chemical pollution. You will also develop knowledge in corporate sustainability accountability, social producers’ responsibility and key environmental regulatory requirements. The program offers a wide range of elective subjects, allowing you to tailor your studies to your interests – from contaminated site remediation to the green economy and environmental policy. This knowledge will allow you to work in industrial enterprises, state institutions and non-governmental organizations, in the fields of environmental management, quality assurance and consulting, as well as engage in scientific research and continue your doctoral studies.
