Baltic Summer University 2018 officially opened
On July 9, Vytautas Magnus University has welcomed the first participants of Baltic Summer University (BSU) who have started a 5-week-long Summer Internship Programme (SIP), which is going to last from July 9 until August 10.
SIP offers a practical opportunity for students to gain professional knowledge of their chosen field and get to know the modern Lithuania. The participants will first attend events of the introductory week at VMU, which includes lectures delivered by university professors on the current affairs of Lithuania and a special cultural programme.
Internship placements for the students are provided based on their chosen fields. Opportunities are offered to do internship at workplaces or institutions which are social partners of VMU, including Kaunas City Municipality, various NGOs.
The participants are not required to speak Lithuanian or have Lithuanian origin: anyone interested in this country and looking for a useful way to spend summer is welcome. Students who successfully end their internship and defend the final project are awarded 6 academic credits (ECTS).
The opening of SIP will be followed by BSU Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer Course opening on July 16 and a series of BSU’s Creativity, Culture and Communication (3Cs) courses to open on July 30. Registration to the 3Cs courses is still open until 20 July for students who do not need visa and special late bird fees are still applicable.
